December 2006
Joyeux Noel! If it were not for the birth of Christ many years ago, I
would have no reason to be going anywhere as a missionary. In coming
and dying for me, “Christ was all anguish that I might be all joy,
stripped that I might be clothed, athirst that I might drink, groaned
that I might have endless song” (The Valley of Vision).
Out of the mouth of babes
One of my favorite aspects of deputation is teaching the boys and
girls in each church. At Merrimack Valley Baptist Church’s missions
conference, the second graders in the Christian school adopted me as
their missionary for the week. They decorated their classroom with
French flags and posters, did projects about France, and even learned
some French choruses. When my puppet Chef Soufflé and I visited, the
poor Chef was convinced that he was back home in France. I hated to
break it to him that we were still in the States.
Here are some
excerpts from their thank-you note:
“Dere Kristi Colas I realy hop you help them in France. Reece.”
“did you noo I love missionarys. April.”
“Merci for coming to our class! I realy enjoyed you and chef Zeuflay!
Love Kylie.”
“I wont to be a missionary to Frace I love the pretzel and nulletella.
I am praying for you I will tell pepol about the Bible. Love Katerina”
In everything by prayer
My financial support level has increased this month from 25% to 28%,
through the generosity of an individual. If I had a way to measure my
prayer support level, it would reflect an exponential increase. Many
people have told me of their desire to pray for me regularly. One kind
Hispanic couple shared that they understand the challenge of living in
a different culture, and they will pray for me to deal with those
adjustments. Who knows what God will do in response to these prayers?
“Unto Him Who is able to do exceedingly abundantly BEYOND all that we
ask or think… be glory!” Ephesians 3:20-21
A soul for whom Christ died
Last month I asked for you to pray that the Lord would give me the
opportunity to share the Gospel at the retirement home that I have
been visiting. He did just that through several conversations with a
sweet lady named Hazel. When I went back to visit her on Wednesday I
found that she has been hospitalized. Please pray that she will look
up the verses I left with her; she was so close to accepting Christ as
her Savior.
I’ll be home for Christmas!
Next week I pack up my little car once again for a journey of 2,000
miles to Denver, CO. I did a little research and discovered this
distance is the equivalent of driving from Normandy, France to Moscow,
Russia! Thankfully the Lord has provided the opportunity to visit
several dear friends along the way. Please pray for good driving
conditions!
As you can see by the attached itinerary, my spring calendar is almost
full! Please pray for more meetings in Kansas in March and May.
Merry Christmas!
Serving my Lord with gladness,
Kristi Colas
