January 2007
Dear friends,
Hi from the land of snow and ice! Although that sounds like a greeting from Antarctica, I am actually in Denver, CO, where we had two big blizzards in seven days. Thank you so much for praying for me as I drove across the country. Except for some freezing rain in western Kansas, I had lovely weather for the whole trip. A few hours after I reached Denver, the first blizzard hit, the interstates were closed, and my family was totally snowbound. Now the snow is melting and the side roads are an absolute mess. Last week one of the men at church mentioned doing moguls, and someone asked, “Are you going skiing?” “No,” he replied, “Just driving home!”
I have enjoyed the opportunity to spend time with my family and prepare for the next round of deputation meetings. This month I will be visiting two churches in CO and one in KS, as well as continuing to schedule meetings for the spring and summer. My sister Kelli is helping me with a new junior church lesson; I wanted to take advantage of her illustrating skills before she returns to Maranatha Baptist Bible College this weekend.
I am looking forward to taking a class this month at L’Alliance Francaise de Denver, a chapter of the same language school I attended in France . Both this class and a course I borrowed from the library will help me progress in my study of French.
The Lord continues to provide opportunities to share the Gospel with people, including a next-door neighbor yesterday. I am praying for more opportunities at language school as well as ministry opportunities at my church here in Denver.
My puppet Chef SoufflĂ© continues to make friends wherever he goes. Two of his biggest fans are little Heidi Gaschke and Drew Neiner (see attached pictures). In fact, Drew loved the Chef so much that his parents got him his own chef’s outfit for Christmas! He wants to visit the Chef in France someday. The Chef’s latest accomplishment is learning the song I wrote for him entitled “La Chanson des Fromages: 31 of 365 French Cheeses” (to the tune of the Ten Little Indians). J
Prayer requests for January:
1) Continued increase in support (two churches now considering it)
2) Fruitful witnessing opportunities (especially at language school)
3) For God to call more laborers to the needy field of France
Thanks for your faithful prayers!
For the sake of His Name,
Kristi Colas
