February 2007

Auto Date Monday, February 5th, 2007

Dear friends,

Last month I wrote from snowy Denver, CO; this month’s letter is coming to you from a much warmer place. I am in balmy Houston, TX for a few days, as a “Mary Poppins” for some friends. Their pastor invited me to do my missions presentation at their church while I am here!

“Come praise the Lord with me, come praise the Lord; worthy is He to be praised and adored; let us together His glory proclaim; join in our chorus to honor His name!” (Peterson)
Recently my car (Pepe le Bleu) has been having some problems. We took him to a mechanic who knew my parents “back in the day,” and we prayed that the repair would not be extremely expensive. The mechanic called to say that the problem had been easily fixed – and there would be NO charge. I was amazed; it had never occurred to me to pray that the repair would be free! O me of little faith. J
Many thanks to those of you who have prayed for the Lord to provide meetings for me this spring. I am delighted to say that my schedule is totally packed through the end of June (except for Mother’s and Father’s Day!). I have attached the updated itinerary.
My friend Audrey gave my website a terrific new look: www.kristicolas.org . Chef Soufflé is proud to have his own page.
The Lord provided more resources for ministry in France, such as new piano music, a CD of study materials in ethnomusicology, and a smashing new laptop (just as my old one bit the dust). He also helped me finish a hymn arrangement for deputation that has been hanging over my head for months.
And last but not least, my support level is now at 40%!
“I love to tell the story; ’tis pleasant to repeat what seems, each time I tell it, more wonderfully sweet. I love to tell the story, for some have never heard the message of salvation from God’s own Holy Word.” (Hankey)
The Lord gave me several such opportunities this month. At language school in Denver, one of my classmates and my teacher (who happens to be from Normandy) were very curious about what I will be doing in France. Also, I shared Christ with two Catholic Hispanic ladies who seemed intrigued by the truth that Christ alone can save. When I gave a tract to a cashier at a dollar store, he said he was Mormon, which led to a brief discussion. On my flight to Houston, I sat next to Erin, a girl my age who had never read the Bible and was curious about my move to France. I do love to tell the story; but oh, I am so miserably weak. My words are jumbled; I fail to pray for wisdom; I forget everything I’ve learned and find myself in fruitless discussions. On one trip I neglected to seize an opportunity right before me. Please pray for me, that my sufficiency would be in God, and that I would be more faithful in memorizing His Word, which is “sharper than any two-edged sword” (Heb. 4:12).

Prayer requests for February:
· God’s guidance as I make decisions soon about the timing of my departure (if I am to start language school there this fall)
· Wisdom in responding to this incessant question: “Why are you going to France ?”
· Several missions conferences this month
· God’s grace for my fellow missionaries in France: the Foxes and Stevensons (another couple on deputation – see their attached prayer card)

For His Name’s sake,

Kristi Colas
